List Of Top 10 Countries With The Highest White Population In Africa 2025
1. South Africa
South Africa still has the most white people in Africa, both in terms of numbers and percentages. The 2022 South African census found that there were 4,504,252 white South Africans, which is 7.3% of the total population. Afrikaners (descendants of Dutch, German, and French Huguenot settlers) and English-speaking white South Africans (of British heritage) make up most of this group. There are also smaller Portuguese, German, and other European communities. Even though there have been enormous changes in South Africa’s social and political life after the end of apartheid, white South Africans still play a big role in many areas, such as business, agriculture, and academics.
2. Namibia
Namibia has the second-highest percentage of white people in Africa. There aren’t as many white Namibians as there are in South Africa, but they make up a significant part of the population. According to an estimate from 2023, there are roughly 125,000 white Namibians, which is about 5% of the overall population. Most of them are Afrikaners (people of Dutch descent), but there are also a lot of German Namibians (descendants of German colonial settlers) and tiny Portuguese and English minorities.
3. Zimbabwe
The number of white people in Zimbabwe has dropped a lot since it was at its highest point before independence in 1980, notably after the land reform measures of the early 2000s. But there is still a strong community. The 2022 census showed that there were about 24,888 white persons in Zimbabwe, which is 0.16% of the population. Most of them are British, but there are also smaller groups of Greeks and Portuguese. Even if their numbers have gone down, they are still present in areas like business, commercial farming (though on a smaller scale than in the past), and tourism.
4. Kenya
There is a small but notable white community in Kenya, mostly made up of people who are descendants of British immigrants who came to the country during the colonial era. White Kenyans still help out in many areas, such as conservation, business, and tourism, even though there aren’t as many of them as there are in Southern Africa. Recent estimates say that roughly 0.1% of Kenya’s population is white. This means that about 57,300 people will live in Kenya in 2025, when the population is expected to be around 57.3 million.
5. Botswana
Botswana has a limited white population, and many of them are not permanent residents. In the past, the white population (mostly Afrikaners and English speakers) never had more than a few thousand permanent residents. Even though the current numbers are small, they are a recognized, though small, group because they have been around for a long time and continue to help with mining, tourism, and business. It’s hard to get accurate recent numbers for 2025, but estimates say they are in the low thousands.
6. Mozambique

Like Angola, most of Mozambique’s white people are of Portuguese heritage. A lot of people left right after independence in 1975, yet a tiny but important group has stayed or even come back because of job prospects. The 2017 census showed that white people made up 0.1% of the population. This means that there were about 34,000 white people in a country that is expected to have about 34 million people by the end of 2025.
7. Angola

8. Eswatini
Eswatini is a small, landlocked country in Southern Africa with a relatively small white population, mostly British and Afrikaner. Even though they aren’t very many, their share of the total population of about 1.2 million means they are involved in a number of economic sectors. We don’t have exact numbers for 2025, but we think they will be in the low hundreds.
9. Gabon
Gabon, a central African nation, has a very tiny indigenous white population, although it does host a considerable number of European expatriates, mainly French nationals, due to its historical ties and continued commercial relationships (especially in the oil and gas sectors). These expats, while frequently not permanent residents, contribute to the country’s demographic mix. While a permanent white citizen population is low, the presence of these international workers makes it remarkable.
10. Rwanda
There aren’t many white people in Rwanda. Most of them are expats or foreign aid workers, mostly from Europe and North America, not from a historically settled white citizen community. Because of the country’s sad history and changing demographics, there isn’t a large indigenous white population. The few white residents are usually involved in international organizations, NGOs, business, or diplomacy.
