On September 16, 2008, Saadiq released The Way I See It, his third solo album, which included joint efforts with Stevie Wonder and Joss Stone. The album has an old-school soul feel, according to Saadiq, with influences from Gladys Knight & The Pips, Al Green, The Four Tops, The Delfonics, and The Stylistics. Over the years, Saadiq has worked on projects for a variety of musicians. With D’Angelo, Saadiq has produced some of his most illustrious pieces. Grammy recognition for Best R&B Album went to D’Angelo in 2000 for the group effort “Untitled.” Joss Stone, a UK soul singer, asked Saadiq to produce her entire third album in 2007. He has also worked with The Roots, Macy Gray, Snoop Dogg, Kelis, Q-Tip, and Young Bellz among other musicians.
