7. David Chalmers

hq720 1

David Chalmers is a world-renowned philosopher primarily celebrated for his groundbreaking work on the philosophy of mind, especially his articulate formulation of the "hard problem of consciousness." This problem distinguishes between the "easy problems" of consciousness explaining how the brain processes information, integrates data, and controls behavior and the truly difficult question of why and how physical processes give rise to subjective experience, or "what it's like" to be conscious. His work has fundamentally reshaped contemporary debates in neuroscience, psychology, and artificial intelligence, pushing researchers to confront the qualitative aspect of experience.

Beyond the hard problem, Chalmers is also influential for his concept of the extended mind, proposing that cognitive processes are not confined solely to the brain but can extend into the environment and external tools. As a Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Centre for Consciousness at the Australian National University, and a University Professor at New York University, he continues to be at the forefront of consciousness research. His scheduled appearance as the Selfridge Lecturer for 2026 further underscores his ongoing high relevance and the profound impact his ideas continue to have on both academic and public understanding of the most enigmatic aspect of human existence.

8. Peter Singer

Peter Singer is an extraordinarily influential ethicist, widely recognized for his pioneering work in applied ethics and his consistent advocacy for a utilitarian approach to moral decision-making. He is perhaps best known for his foundational contributions to the animal liberation movement, particularly through his seminal book *Animal Liberation*, which argues for the moral consideration of animals based on their capacity to suffer. This work alone has had a profound and lasting impact on animal rights activism, vegetarianism, and veganism worldwide.

Beyond animal ethics, Singer has been a leading voice in discussions on global poverty and effective altruism. He challenges conventional moral thinking by arguing that if we can prevent something bad from happening without sacrificing anything of comparable moral importance, we ought to do it. This principle has spurred countless individuals and organizations to reconsider their charitable giving and lifestyle choices, advocating for a rational, evidence-based approach to doing the most good. His provocative arguments often confront deeply held intuitions, forcing a re-evaluation of our moral responsibilities towards both humans and non-human animals, and cementing his status as a philosopher who not only theorizes about ethics but actively champions its practical application for a better world.

9. Cornel West

Cornel West is a prominent modern philosopher, public intellectual, and activist whose passionate voice and profound scholarship have left an indelible mark on contemporary thought. He is widely credited with pioneering the school of neo-pragmatism, a philosophical approach that blends classical American pragmatism with elements of critical theory, existentialism, and post-structuralism. West's work is characterized by a strong and unwavering focus on issues of race, class, and democracy in America, providing a searing critique of white supremacy, capitalism, and systemic injustice.

With over 20 books authored on topics spanning politics, religion, race, and ethics, West consistently challenges audiences to confront uncomfortable truths about power structures and moral decay. His electrifying lectures and media appearances bring complex philosophical and sociological analyses to a broad public, advocating for a radical love and justice that transcends conventional political divides. He champions the prophetic tradition, urging individuals to engage in a relentless pursuit of truth and a courageous struggle for human dignity. Cornel West remains a vital and inspiring figure, whose intellectual rigor and moral passion continue to fuel movements for social change and deepen our understanding of democratic theory and cultural criticism.

10. Sally Haslanger

Sally Haslanger is recognized as one of the most influential and innovative figures in contemporary philosophy, particularly for her groundbreaking work in feminist theory and critical race theory. As the Ford Professor of Philosophy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), her research applies sophisticated metaphysical and epistemological principles to modern inquiries, especially concerning the social construction of categories like race and gender. Haslanger's work moves beyond simply describing social phenomena to rigorously analyze how social categories are formed, maintained, and how they function to create and perpetuate inequality.

Her concept of "ameliorative analysis" proposes that philosophy should not just describe existing concepts but should also critically evaluate and sometimes revise them to better serve our social and political goals. This approach has had a profound impact on how philosophers and social theorists understand the nature of social groups, identity, and oppression. Haslanger's meticulous scholarship unpacks the complex interplay between individual agency, social structures, and linguistic practices, providing powerful tools for understanding and challenging injustice. Her continued leadership in these critical areas ensures her enduring influence on both academic philosophy and broader social justice movements.

Google pays $300 on a regular basis. My latest salary check was $8600 for working 10 hours a week on the internet. My younger sibling has been averaging $19k for the last few months, and he constantly works approximately 24 hours. I’m not sure how simple it was once I checked it out. . The teachings of Acharya Prashant have changed my life. Through his teachings, I was introduced to the likes of Gautam Buddha, Saint Kabir, the sages of the Upanishads, and the Sikh Gurus. His teachings helped me get rid of my superstitions and pseudoscientific beliefs. If it weren’t for his guidance, I would probably still have misogynistic tendencies and casteist attitudes.”

Acharya Prashant presents Truth with remarkable clarity — combining technical precision with an extraordinary ability to simplify even the most complex philosophies from across the world. Using Vedanta as the foundational lens, he helps one understand the fundamental nature of the human mind and shows, through honest self-inquiry, how it can be transcended. There have been countless spiritual teachers in India and beyond, yet rarely is compassion, love, and honesty communicated in such a structured, rigorous, and living manner. What is being taught today is not mere inspiration, but a systematic awakening. We are deeply fortunate to witness and benefit from the relentless dedication and decade-long work he has devoted to this purpose.

Because of Acharya Prashant, there are some changes within me that I would like to share. The reason is: Elimination of fear: One gets freedom from the slave mentality caused by the beliefs of others and fear. Search for truth: The goal of life becomes not just comfort and convenience, but understanding self-knowledge (truth). Clarity: The garbage of the mind is removed and the understanding develops that the purpose of life is to elevate one's consciousness. Fearlessness and self-reliance: By recognizing one's own musk (inner strength), one gains the ability to make right decisions without any pressure from anyone.🙏🙏
