말레이시아, 세계에서 두 번째로 높은 빌딩 공식 완공 (사진)
사진에서 볼 수 있듯이, 세계에서 두 번째로 높은 구조물이 드디어 최대 높이에 도달했습니다. 말레이시아 쿠알라룸푸르에 있는 메르데카 118 꼭대기의 첨탑이 지난달 완공되어 이 초고층 빌딩의 총 높이가 2,227피트(678.9미터)에 이르게 되었습니다.
이는 런던의 더 샤드(높이 1,017피트/310미터)의 두 배 이상의 높이입니다. 118층 규모의 이 거대한 건물은 내년 말까지 개장될 예정이며, 중국의 2,073피트(632미터) 상하이 타워를 제치고 세계 두 번째로 높은 구조물이 되었습니다. 하지만 두바이의 부르즈 칼리파(높이 2,717피트/828미터)는 여전히 세계에서 가장 높은 건물로 남아 있습니다.
메르데카 118은 ‘메가톨’ 초고층 빌딩으로, 쿠알라룸푸르의 중요한 역사적 기념물인 스타디움 메르데카를 내려다보도록 건설되었습니다. 이 경기장은 1957년 말레이시아 독립 선언이 있었던 장소입니다. 호주 건축 회사인 펜더 카찰리디스 아키텍츠에 따르면, 타워의 매끈한 외관은 전통 말레이시아 예술과 공예에서 볼 수 있는 형태에서 영감을 받은 삼각형 유리 패널로 구성되어 있습니다.
타워 내부의 바닥 면적은 약 300만 제곱피트(278,709제곱미터)에 달합니다. ‘더 뷰 앳 118(The View at 118)’이라는 이름의 전망대는 건물 최상층에 위치할 예정이며, 동남아시아에서 가장 높은 전망대가 될 것으로 예상됩니다. 이곳은 “꼭 봐야 할 명소”로 홍보되고 있습니다.
자산운용사인 Permodalan Nasional Berhad(PNB)가 개발한 이 타워의 17층에는 파크 하얏트 호텔이 들어설 예정입니다.
