List Of Top 10 Most Beautiful Cities In Netherlands 2024

1. Amersfoort

Unquestionably the most photographed symbol of Amersfoort, the spectacular Koppelpoort the most gorgeous historic city gate in The Netherlands. Its site is also somewhat unique, sandwiched between the cutting edge gentrified industrial neighborhood of Amersfoort, De Nieuwe Stad, the train station, and the ancient city center. Cobbled ancient alleyways, first-rate museums (be sure to see Piet Mondriaan’s birthplace), small canals, a lovely old town, and a vibrant café culture abound in Amersfoort.

2. Amsterdam

Everybody’s list includes a visit to Amsterdam. The city never seems to lose its appeal even if you have visited The Netherlands a few times. Not disappointing are the historical canals, amazing museums, Golden Age structures, lively ambiance, eccentric street art, interesting neighbourhoods and appealing hidden gems (for those that look hard enough).

3. Delft

Delft is quite accessible from Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, hence it is among the top cities in The Netherlands one should visit. Once the residence of eminent Dutch master Johannes Vermeer, Delft made the heavens permanently famous. More importantly, though, the city is integral to Dutch history and William of Nassau and all the Dutch royals have been interred at Delft. Enjoy Delft by bike, river or foot and explore the old cobblestone streets, soaking in the magnificent historical buildings and squares.

4. Den Bosch

Worth its title, Den Bosch is the capital of southern Dutch province Brabant. Among The Netherlands, this is among my favorite cities. Although it was the posting of dukes and bishops, its most well-known use is that of painter Jheronimus (Jeroen) Bosch, who drew inspiration for the terrible images in his works from the city. Though Den Bosch is also recognized for some great museums, a fantastic café and dining scene and unique underground canals, pieces from Bosch’s artwork may still be seen in the city.

5. Deventer

One of the lovely Dutch Hansa Towns, the historic city center looks to have stepped straight out of a fantasy book. See the expansive gentrified neighborhood and head to Piknik and Fooddock after a ferry across the IJssel river for a great perspective over the Deventer skyline.

6. Maastricht

Maastricht, which is south of the Netherlands, has a Roman background and is a city full of character and historical legacy. One feature is the labyrinth with more than 20,000 passageways known as St. Pietersberg Caves The city’s friendly friendliness is shown in its many cafes and little terraces ideal for savoring a coffee or tea while appreciating the local scene.

7. Groningen

Groningen boasts lovely courtyards and the striking Hoofdstation with its artistically adorned tiles and extraordinary acoustics. Must-see sights are the Martinitoren, the highest building in the city and the picturesque Noorderplantsoen park with its ponds and fountains.

8. Middelburg

Middelburg, in the lovely province of Zeeland, is a city bursting with distinctive and old homes. Some amazing structures, including the 86.5-meter-high Lange Jan Abbey Tower and the magnificent abbey complex comprising three churches, have been conserved despite the great damage done during World War II. Whether your visit is for an interesting historical lesson or just to savor the special beauty of the city, Middelburg welcomes you with wide arms.

9. Rotterdam

Renowned for its contemporary architecture, Rotterdam distinguishes itself with audacious buildings including the Market Hall, the Cube Houses, and Rotterdam Central Station. Covering more than 12,600 hectares and home of Europe’s biggest port, Rotterdam is a city unlike others.

10. Utrecht

Although Utrecht is regarded as a student city, it also has breathtaking views like its several canals and the Dom Tower with its related church. Walking around the ancient city center is a treat; there are many of old buildings and museums including the Rietveld Schröder House to discover.
